...The Nova Galega de Danza company is the result of a process which begins in 1998, when the dancers Vicente Colomer and Jaime P. Díaz reach their artistic and professional maturity and they decide to combine their efforts in order to fulfil their eagerness for new modes of expression. Their starting points were different, but they had a common objective: the combination of the Galician folk tradition and contemporary dance.

The company's creation team is completed with the incorporation of Xosé Lois Romero, who is a renowned composer and performer who has been trained in the Galician root music and faces up to the challenge to create a music style in agreement with the choreographic aims.

On April 5th 2002, they make their debut with the name Trintaetrés company at the 1st Dance Marathon of Madrid, which takes place at the Madrid Theatre and where they are awarded the 4th prize among over seventy companies.

On June 28th, they are selected for the 11th National Contest of Spanish Dance and Flamenco, where they turn out to be in the final.

On September 12th 2002, they are invited to take part in the gala performance on the 10th Anniversary of the Madrid Theatre, under José Manuel Garrido's production. He is the director of the theatre and introduces them into the world of professional dance. The company is then called NOVA GALEGA DE DANZA.

On April 2003, they are selected to take part in the 1st Contest of Choreographic Creation in Galicia, where they are awarded the 2nd prize.

The company is composed of six dancers and six live musicians: accordion, pipe and sax, guitar, violin, percussion and the essential voice.

The premiere of their first show "Alento" takes place at the same theatre which saw their birth, the Madrid Theatre, on May 8th 2003.
