Cantos na Maré consists of:

"Cantos na Maré" is therefore a new bridge to bring together the Galego speakers of the world, those of Brazil, Mozambique and Guinea Bissau, those of Cabo Verde, Angola and Portugal, and those of Galiza. A bridge built with raw materials of music and sound, but above all built with the soul of all those who take part in this project with great passion and devotion because, for them, language will always be the passport of the soul.

UXÍA. Galiza
The instigator of this project, who will serve as the needle and thread which sews together the network of marine voices taking part.She brings a wealth of experience in the direction and co-ordination of collective cross-cultural performances, and creates the healthy atmosphere of co-operation and musical exploration necessary for the project.She is also currently preparing material for her new CD which will be released by the Dutch label "World Connection".

CHICO CÉSAR. Brasil
One of the great composers and performers currently working in Brazil.He comes from the state of Paraiba and his lyrics are brilliant and original, just like the musical treatment he gives to his compositions. He connects totally with the presiding spirit of this musical encounter. His latest CD is called " Respeitem meus cabelos, brancos".

MANECAS COSTA. Guiné Bissau
Guinean composer and one of the emerging voices of the African scene. A virtuoso guitarist, composer and performer who draws influence from the music of his native land, while giving it a contemporary edge. He received huge critical acclaim for his CD "Paraíso di Gumbé" released this year by the BBC label.

FILIPA PAIS. Portugal
The sea of Lisbon is represented by the aquatic voice of Filipa, who transmits better than anyone the light of the white city. Filipa unites with her voice fado, morna and the popular music of Portugal,but also brings an affinity to Brazil, where she has performed and made contact with many important musicians. She has also taken part in the events "Sons da Fala" and "Sons da Lusofonia", both of which featured collaborations between musicians from Cabo Verde, Angola, Guinae Bissau, Brazil, Galiza and Portugal.

ASTRA HARRIS. Moçambique
One of the most important voices of Mozambique who explores the threads and directions of the music of his native land. he is well recognized for his sensitive and innovative interpretations of the songs he performs with an intense and lively energy. His most recent CD is titled "Toca meu Tambor".

BATUKO TABANKA. Cabo Verde - Galiza
The voices and percussion of Cabo Verde open the show, bringing the sea air of these islands to the stage, passing en route the fishing port of Burela in north Galiza where these women have lived and worked for many years. the Batuque is a rhythm, a song, a ritual with origins in the days of slavery. "It has the stamp of humanity which imposes itself on the climate. When the batuque sounds, the landscape of Burela wakes up, a shaft of sunlight breaks through the dark clouds. A new island appears on the map". (Manuel Rivas).
